I am 70 and my wife is 3 years younger. We love cruising, not for the ports, but just to cruise. The ship is our destination. We chose this cruise because it offered good value: price was right, lots of sea days, and plenty to do if you wanted to. We didn't want to do much. We have cruised previously with Carnival, Celebrity, HAL and RCL. We have enjoyed every cruise we have been on with the exception of the last cruise aboard the Carnival Miracle.
We had cruised previously on the Allure of the Seas, our first RCL cruise, and loved the ship but were very disappointed in the food, which looked great but with the exception of a few dishes, had no taste or flavor to it whatsoever. Food is one of the most important aspects of a cruise to me. The others are roominess of the stateroom (we usually get an ocean view), entertainment and the number of sea days. So my review is naturally slanted toward these items.
With that preamble, on to Anthem of the Seas.
Roomy enough with adequate storage for two people. Nicely decorated. Clean. Bed was very comfortable. Standard small bathroom one finds in standard room on cruise ships. Shower had door instead of curtain. Large screen TV.
Stayed overnight at hotel near the airport. Took a private car to the port. $55 + tip.
Just got off the ship and looked around the immediate area. There is a Walgreens there where you can pick up stuff you forgot at home or suddenly need or have run out of.
i had not been to this port before and I really liked it. There are lots of shops and places to walk around immediately after you get off the ship. It seemed to have the largest variety of items and the best prices of most of the ports.
