I love Disney, and cruising with Disney, but there was something that was just not right on this sailing. We were excited to sail on the re-imagined Disney Wonder after her dry dock. Unfortunately, she looked a little worse for wear than a year ago (which was before the dry dock). I am not sure why the dry dock took so long as there were still quite a few areas in need of repair. Yes, they made changes to the atrium, and the pool deck, they added the duck tail, and they made over Parrot Cay into Tiana's Place along with other minor changes (like the kid area's and Cabana's), but they were not dramatic or overwhelming.

I can not speak for the maintenance that was taking place during the other cruises after dry dock leading up to ours, but the entire aft section of our floor was a maintenance zone during our sailing. Not to mention the maintenance needs throughout the entire boat.

Don't get me wrong, as I said before, I do still love Disney and their cruises, but I do not think the Wonder will be my boat of choice going forward.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Inside Stateroom

Cabin 10A

This is a handicap accessible room. The automatic open feature for the door had been removed, and a door that was not the correct size was being used. As a result all the light, air, and noise from the hallway came right into the room.

The size of the room does allow for maneuverability of a wheelchair. There is a queen size bed, and a couch that converts to a twin bed. There is also a dresser, a vanity, and an accessible closet. The bathroom has a wide, open layout to allow for wheelchair access. There is a roll in shower, with a fold down shower bench.

As for amenities, there is a door bell, a digital alarm clock with 2 charging ports, a flat screen TV, and a refrigerator.

The bed is raised to allow for suitcase storage, but low enough for transfers from the wheel chair.

There are / were quite a few odd noises in the room. I am not sure if they were from the maintenance or not. And, there is an adjustable thermostat in the room, but because of the gap around the door, we could not get the room warm enough.

Port Reviews

Galveston

We stayed at Harbor House prior to sailing. It is a boutique hotel that is with in walking distance to the port. Also with in walking distance is the Strand. There were several shops, and restaurants.

The port itself is disorganized, and the Port of Galveston employees are rude and not helpful.

Cozumel

We walked (and drove my wheelchair) about 3 block from the Punta Langosta pier, to the Baracuda Hotel. With the purchase of 2 drinks (they do not have to be alcoholic drinks) you get beach access. This includes snorkeling area, a small pier, sand areas with beach loungers, tables, and chairs. There is also a pool with a swim up bar, and clean bathrooms. Plus, there is free internet access.

One other thing, a little secret of cruising is: if you want to find the best place at a port to go for internet and reasonable priced food and drink that you will know is safe, follow the cruise staff. Well, we did not follow the cruise staff, but we did end up surrounded by them.

Falmouth

We went in to the small cruise compound at Falmouth. It seemed more like one big shopping mart that a collection of small stores. All the prices were fixed (same price at all stores), so there was no bargaining.

We went to Margaritaville for lunch. The food is over priced and just average. The nice thing about Margaritaville is that they have a pool and hot tub that you can use. They have a nice resort type feel with live entertainment, dancing, games, and of course the pool area.

I would go again for the pool and entertainment.
