My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the cruise! It was our first Holland America cruise and we visited Key West, Grand Turk, Amber Cove and Half Moon Cay. Our service on the cruise was exceptional from an easy embarkation (we walked right on and our cabin was ready immediately) to friendly and helpful staff at every level. We loved the fresh fruit in the cabin and room service at any time with options at no charge. Breakfast arrived on time every time. Ship décor was tasteful and we found things to do when we wanted to.

We chose to do the Therma Suite package in the spa for the week and I would highly recommend that it you want a nice relaxing experience. I enjoyed the food and found it good but towards the end of the week I found the options in the Lido to be the same. I did love the option of having your salad customized and tossed to your liking. We did eat at the Pinnacle Grill one evening and that was wonderful with many options for the upgrade. Enjoyed the bar and game area in The Crow's Nest.

In Key West we did the Trolley Hop On and Off and that was a great way to see the island if you had never been. The day we were in Grand Turk it was very windy and raining with many excursions cancelled so we did an Island Tour. The tour was interesting but it shows that there really isn't too much on the Island! After that we walked 10 minutes along the beach to Jack's Shack for some local beer and conch fritters. Definitely would have been a great beach locale if the weather had cooperated! For Amber Cove we took the Puerto Plata Cultural Tour through HAL. We really enjoyed the tour, the tour guide and driver. It gave us a great overview of the area and had a fun stop for coconut water from a street vendor, rum tasting and a nice lunch among other things. Half Moon Cay was a great day and a nice way to end the trip. We booked a clamshell on the beach and got that right away then hit the Calypso Tram Tour at 9, It is a short tour but they brought us to see the horses (for horseback riding on the beach) and the stingrays (if you chose to do that). Then it was beach time with the awesome ocean blues of the Bahamas. Overall a great trip and I would definitely said with HAL again

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VE

We loved our cabin. The small bath tub is a nice change from a shower stall. Enjoyed the larger screen TV and the reclining chairs with foot rest on the veranda. Cabin is just one floor down from Lido dining so it is also close to the Lido pool. The downfall of the cabin is that it is below the rear deck so during peak times there was the muffled sound of moving deck chairs or tables. Just a few cabins down from rear elevator.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Really enjoyed Amber Cove, not a lot of shops in port but we really enjoyed the Puerto Plata Cultural Tour we did there

Half Moon Cay

Beach is the star here! Such a nice relaxing day, floating in the shallow water and the powdery sand beach. Nice lunch served on the island. Smooth tendering process.
