Sail Date: Jan 2017
Cabin: Premium Suite with Balcony

This was our first time sailing on Princess. Our family had sailed with them many times and have great stories of their times so when they asked us to join them we thought why not and booked a Suite on Deck 9 forward.

Overall the experience was great!

Some of the positives:

Cabin Review

Premium Suite with Balcony

Cabin S5

The stateroom was at the very front of the ship where the wall slopes down at an angle. It consisted of 3 rooms (about 550 sq. ft) The bedroom was the largest room with the large bed facing the window that was placed on the angle wall. You could actually lay in bed and watch where the ship was going. Since the wall was angled they utilized the space at the bottom to put 4 large drawers and then under the TV the cabinet could be used for luggage storage. The room had a dressing table as well as chairs so you could sit and watch out the window. Plenty of closet space... 2 large closets for hanging clothes and one with shelves.

The second room was the living room. It was quite a bit smaller but had everything you would need. It is from this room that you would go out onto the deck. Not a very large deck for a suite but it had 2 tables and 2 chairs and there was plenty of space to move around. Due to the front of the ship and the shape there wasn't much more balcony you could have. The living room had a desk with the tv on the wall above it, another side chair, a large oval coffee table, the sleeper sofa, refrigerator, mini bar and another storage closet where you would find blankets for laying out and watching the movies at night or pool towels, etc...

The 3 room(s) were the bathroom. It was actually split into two separate areas. In the small area off of the living room was the commode and a sink. Think of it as a 1/2 batch because it had a door that separated it from the other portion of the bathroom which had a large all glass enclosed shower a full sized, incredibly deep bath tub, and a vanity. again it was quite large and comfortable.

Our room steward was awesome. Plenty of amenities, towels were always fresh.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We really did not have any issues at the port. I will say though that the airport is AWFUL. It was clearly not designed to handle the number of passengers that they have coming in and going out of that airport during the busy season. I might suggest that Princess come up with a "Club" similar to the airlines where you can pay a daily fee and wait in the club with internet and food and the like until it is time for you to head to your flight. Our flight schedules literally had us waiting all day at that NASTY airport. Lesson learned. Try Miami next time, book a shore excursion, or try to get off of the ship early enough to catch those early morning flights.

Princess Cays

Typical "private port" experience. Princess controls everything so it has its best face forward. We did go onshore and had lunch. There were plenty of places to lounge on the beach and plenty of water activities...

Grand Turk

We had never been to Grand Turk before. Again where the port is located is controlled by the cruise lines. Plenty of shopping and beach type activities if you want. If you head to town you see the real Grand Turk. Probably not a place that we would even choose to get off of the ship again if we returned.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

We've been here many times. Taken a number of excursions but on this trip we just decided we would do some shopping for the family. We really like Grand Cayman. Our experience has always been friendly people, great Caribbean feel.
