Never having been to that part of South America we weren't sure what to expect but having sailed several times with Celebrity we expected certain quality and some pampering. We upgraded to Aqua Class in order to eat in Blu- well worth it, though the advertised "spa concierge" never materialized. Embarkation in Buenos Aires is just ridiculous and put a damper on the beginning of the cruise. It was so disorganized that passengers were snapping at one another- not a great start to a relaxing vacation. Disembarkation in Valparaiso was much better organized. The ship is beautiful but public areas look a bit tired, and a lot of upholstery needs replacing. Food and service in Blu were great.
We had gotten notice of a norovirus outbreak on the cruise before ours, and there were still some folks on ours who had symptoms we were told, though we never saw first hand thankfully. The staff was working overtime on sanitization, understandable under the circumstances but that also meant that some service was lacking. For example we didn't even meet our cabin attendant until the second afternoon out (couldn't blame him given everything they were having to do). Services overall were pretty basic and not what we've come to expect from Celebrity.
The beauty of the scenery is the reason to go on this cruise, and it's spectacular! Don't miss the penguins on Magdalena Island.
