Basically, we chose this cruise because we liked the itinerary and we had heard great things about Viking. They know how to do luxury! Not only was the cruise terrific but the weather was also. Warm and sunny! So many cities to see and museums and palaces and so much history. Each place we visited was worth seeing. My husband is a history buff and he had a ball (so did I!). The guides for each excursion were top-notch. There were guest speakers on the ship, concerts and more plus a glass making demonstration that was great fun! My heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Viking Aegir who were unfailingly courteous and helpful. There were 4 of us traveling together and we each developed such wonderful relationships with various staff. Regardless of where you cruise, the staff of each ship makes or breaks the cruise. The staff of the Aegir certainly made our cruise! I don't know how they managed to work so hard and still be so much fun. Our thanks to Vinnie for his many kindnesses and thoughtfulness, to Dan (our high-energy the program director), and Gilbert (one of the few bartenders anywhere who knew how to make Rob Roys!) and Tomas and Vlad and every last crew member on the Aegir.
Finally: the ship was beautiful and very comfortable. The cabins spacious enough and very well laid out. The bed was really wonderful. I can't use a down pillow (allergies) and the staff changed them all to what I believe was a foam pillow but it was fine. The food was great and menus varied. The entertainment system was great, lots of good music to sit on the veranda and watch the scenery go by. Go, you'll love this cruise!
