I chose this cruise because I loved the itinerary and had previous sailed 2 times on the Getaway and LOVED the ship. I'm 30 and my boyfriend is 31, and we are extremely active. The Breakaway class has so much to offer active cruisers. From the moment we got on the ship, we had a blast with the drinks package, visiting all of the different bars and restaurants, playing chess, darts, pool, skeet ball, basketball, bowling, boccie, putt-putt, the ropes course, the gym, the water slides (SO FUN!), trivia, shows, comedy, movies, and everything else! And this was just while we were onboard! It made sea days so great.

I would like to do a minor complaint in the layout: Norwegian has apparently decided that active cruisers are in a severe minority (and they are probably right, but it sucks to BE one of those minority cruisers) and they put the jogging track in a high-traffic area where we have no room, bump into people, and have a dinky little track. As a runner, there is no better experience than to run on a ship. You have great air, warm weather, can hear and see the ocean, and everything is bliss. This was not bliss; this felt like a stressful battle where I had to decide to run people over who were just sightseeing in the middle of the freakin running track.

I will say that i had read that embarkation was a breeze. It was not. It was a lot of waiting and lines. We waited for probably half an hour to just move to another line and then waiting another 15 minutes to get to another line. It was one of the more crowded and wait-ridden embarkations in my 14 cruise career.

Miami

We stayed in Miami Beach the night before the cruise. The beach is fun and pretty, the Cuban food is top-notch, and the people are alive and wild.

St. Thomas

We took the ferry over to St. John and snorkled in Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay. There was a lot to see if you can swim out to the little islands. The beach cannot be matched in beauty or serenity. St. John is the ultimate beach experience.

Tortola

We found a random guy offering to take people to the Baths in Virgin Gourda. His name was Egbert. GO WITH EGBERT. We had the best day ever. If you are fun and like to laugh, Egbert is the way to go. We had a great, random mix of people all together with Egbert and we all had a blast. The Baths were gorgeous, my boyfriend was climbing all over and trying to kill himself rock climbing. The beach was beautiful.

Nassau

I've always hated Nassau. I've been to Atlantis and Paradise Island. I was hesitant to bring my boyfriend here and at a loss about what to do. We got creative; we walked around the town, saw historical sights including the old library and multiple forts. We walked a couple of miles along shopping and Junkanoo at the advice of a local. We went to a place called Goldies in the fish market area. This place was amazing. On the water, great fish fry (says my boyfriend, I had veggie options) and the staff was fun and friendly.
