I chose this cruise because I've always enjoyed the other cruises I've taken with Carnival. A few weeks before we sailed, the cruise line called and asked if I would like to upgrade to a balcony cabin and of course I did. When we first saw the cabin I was quite pleased as it had 2 bathrooms, 2 TV's, a sofa and a balcony. My first thoughts were, this is wonderful!! BUT is was NOT. Around 2:30 am a huge crashing, scraping noise brought me to my feet in a panic. I thought the ship had hit something but no announcement came so I called the service desk to inquire. I was told our cabin is directly below the galley! Imagine my surprise! At no time did anyone tell me this when I upgraded. The next morning I was informed there was nowhere else on the ship to move us as it was completely booked, however, the desk would call the galley to ask them to keep down the noise. For the next 10 nights we experienced the same racket. We had booked all the shore excursions in all the ports but we were so completely exhausted from lack of sleep that is was very difficult to enjoy them. While the ship did give us a partial credit for the upgrade, it did not make up for the torment and lack of sleep we went through. The crew and staff were excellent, but whoever put a suite under the galley should be strung up for being so completely stupid.
We boarded from this port
We wandered on our own because we had booked 3 nights here after the cruise. We explored the plaka, hired a private guide to take us to all the sites. We saw the changing of the guards, enjoyed the local foods and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our time.
