We are 3 couples who usually cruise ocean ships but decided to travel across Europe by Viking Riverboat. As our excitement grew during the planning phase, we were joined by two other couples of friends. We were booking fairly late in the season so were lucky to get 5 cabins close together on the lower level. None of us had ever cruised with Viking before. We all thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and have become fans of Viking.
All five couples are senior and do not share the same interests or physical abilities. We found the Viking cruise allowed us to be a group but still have independent activities. We requested and got the one table large enough to all of us for dinners so we ate together, sharing tales of our adventures that day. Actually we found another guest who was 93 traveling alone and managed to get him at our table as well.
Our independence began with embarkation: three couples did the Viking pre-cruise tour in Budapest, another came one night early and booked their stay themselves and the fifth couple came straight to the ship from the airport. We all very much enjoyed Budapest. We all experienced a very easy embarkation procedure.
