I have to thank the Cruise Critic community for this cruise. At one point, I spied a thread about the Ben & Jerry’s cabin on the Freedom class. I read all about it and knew it was for us. Not only do we both love ice cream (and we’ve visited the Ben & Jerry’s “plant” in Vermont), but also, my husband has often said he’d like to be reincarnated as a cow!

The Ben & Jerry’s cabin, #6305 on all three of this class ship, I believe, is one of the “inside” cabins that has a picture window overlooking the promenade deck. This one cabin, however, has a unique view: outside our window were two cows! They’re the decoration above the Ben & Jerry’s shop where you can actually purchase a quite reasonable cup or cone of ice cream, with about eight flavors available daily. The cows are facing forward, which means their derrieres are facing – the window of cabin 6305! Royal Caribbean made the most of this situation. These cabins on all three ships are called – wait for it – the Ben & Jerry’s “Sweet”! Not only that, but the décor is enhanced by various cow motif items, including hooks and a magnet and bric-a-brac. Honestly, the whole thing is a riot. You can see YouTubes with it if you’re really curious.

Better than the fun motif, however, is that the B & J Sweet entitles its inhabitants to be treated like SUITE guests! You get invited to a special lounge in the evening, special seating area and special line at sit-down breakfast and lunch in the main dining room, invitations to special events, special disembarkation. And all for the same cost as any of those interior cabins in the promenade category with the picture window. We were even entitled to a scoop Ben & Jerry’s every day! The hard part is finding one of these cabins! I started looking over two years ago. I had one booked for October but then a family event conflicted. Luckily at the same time I booked that October one, I had also booked this January one. I’m so glad we did it!

Ben & Jerry's cabin is very special! I happen to like this category anyway, but this one's unique.

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

We took a private tour to the ruins and enjoyed it very much.

Cozumel

I didn't get off the ship in Cozumel. Husband walked to the airport (not a common thing to do). The next day in Costa Maya, somebody told us there's a nice museum in Cozumel, so now we have something else to look forward to, if we stop there again.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

FINALLY we know where the easy entrance is. Take SR 84 east. First time we've ever arrived at the port and NO CAR was in front of us in line to enter the port area. And that's even with Harmony there, too. We drove into the port area about 12:15 pm.
