We sailed on this Viking Ocean cruise because of our great experience with Viking River cruise and we were definitely not disappointed. The same comforting, friendly, and expert service was shown on the Ocean cruise. We heard other Viking River cruise veterans say that they also felt the same regarding their first time on the Viking Ocean cruise. They would certainly return for another Viking Cruise, Ocean or River. The ship's crew, ship's staff, on-shore reps, tour guides and bus drivers were all very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable in making our vacation a great experience.

The inclusive shore excursions were well planned and enjoyable. The optional tours were very interesting and added to the overall travel experience. At our embarkation port of Barcelona, we signed up for the optional Gaudi tour and thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely learned a lot about this person and his beautiful architecture. We also signed up for the Flamenco dinner/show which was excellent and was not to be missed. We opted for the post-cruise stay in Rome and enjoyed the extra days to enjoy the city. We added another Vatican tour to add to the Viking tour we had already taken. Our hotel was in a very nice area and close to transportation and some shopping and restaurants. The hotel was very nice, clean, and comfortable. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. On our departure day, we were picked up by a Viking representative who escorted us to the airport, thru the ticket check-in and to the security check-point. A plus for Viking for sure!

Our cabin on the Viking Star was on the Deluxe Veranda deck and was very comfortable and roomy. The bathroom was a very spacious and seemed to be from an on-land hotel room instead of a cruise ship. Our room steward was attentive to our needs and comfort. We weren't able to experience the various dining options aboard the ship but very much enjoyed the dining variety/choices and daily specials at the main dining room. The galley staff, cooks, and servers were friendly and courteous. The food was delicious, plentiful, and tasty. There was always a variety of yummy desserts and scoops of gelato.
