It was recommended by several friends. We were able to go early to have 4 days to explore Budapest on our own which was very enjoyable. The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly with the staff handling things very professionally. The ship was outstanding and the staff was superb. We were able to upgrade to a mini suite shortly after we arrived and that cabin was wonderful. Because of river conditions we had to do a split ship where we started out on the Baldur then transferred half way through the cruise to the Magni. We were very anxious about this procedure but the staff and crew handled everything flawlessly!
With regard to dining, we have to say we preferred the food and the chef on the Baldur. As for entertainment, activities, excursions, everything was pretty good. My friend and I enjoyed singing along with the piano man. Since our cruise straddled the Fourth of July, we started a sing along with many cruise companions who were in the lounge. FUN!!
Regarding the excursions, as is common, some of our guides were excellent and a couple were just OK. Having done more than a dozen ocean cruises we enjoyed the lack of the hurly burly that is sometimes associated with them. The service was top notch and we appreciated the assistance of our cabin steward and everyone on the ship.
Very comfortable and spacious.
This is the only day it rained. Our guide was kind of goofy and loved to regale us with his own singing and poetry. Not what we came for!
Good tour guide then time to have a terrific lunch in the city.
Good tour guide. You can keep the smoky beer!!
This is where we took the excursion to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is one of our favorite towns in Germany. We visited there many times in the 70's when we were stationed in Germany with the Air Force. Lovely to be back.
We have been to Amsterdam several times before. It was nice to take the train into town from our hotel and just stroll around.
