We love the south of France and have traveled there on several occasions. After watching the Viking commercials on Downton Abbey, we finally decided to do a river cruise and we were most pleasantly surprised.Viking has river cruising down pat! Every aspect of the trip was outstanding and seamless.

We elected to spend a week in Nice before taking a train to join the boat in Avignon. Once on the boat, we unpacked our bags for the duration of the trip. What a treat to travel without re packing and lugging luggage! Our cabin (Veranda A) was compact, but, very efficiently designed and comfortable. From our very first encounter to our departure, every interaction with the Viking crew was wonderful. The daily complimentary tours were informative and managed in a way that prevented you from feeling "herded". Each night there was an update of the next days activities prior to dinner.

Oh and the food, where to begin....great quality and quantity. We alternated between the Dining room and the more casual Aquavit terrace. As I look back on a great experience, the most memorable part of the trip was the wonderful people that we met and the friends that we made. We are already planning our next Viking Cruise.
