A balance of excellent itinerary, cost and type of venue. Everything was as advertised. The docking location in Budapest was excellent, right next to the Chain Bridge on the Buda side of Budapest. It was quite scenic. Each included tour was conducted very professionally by knowledgeable tour professionals. Viking River buses provided transportation from the riverboat to the starting point of the cruise. Also there were two versions of each included tour. One for those that wanted to see and experience everything and one for those that wanted to take it a bit slower, i.e., for those that might have a walking disability, etc. Each stop on the itinerary was very interesting and had both cultural as well as culinary value. During the evenings while in transit, Viking provided local cultural entertainment, including dancers, singers, folk costumed performers for many of the locations/countries visited. Other evenings the Cruise Director and Staff provided an overview of the daily activities for the coming day as well as insight into language and local customs. Although this was our first Viking Riverboat Cruise, it certainly will not be our last.
Stateroom was exactly as advertised including amenities. The housekeeping staff maintained the stateroom in a cleanly, excellent condition. The storage room for suitcases below the bed was excellent and the closet room was quite adequate. The provided, on-board toiletries were excellent quality.
