We were told this was a new ship, nice decor, good for dancing. What a disappointment this has been! We sailed from JAN 8-22 and paid well over 5 figures. This was the worst and most uninteresting, boring cruise we had ever been on. First of all the management seemed disorganized from start to finish. We would be sent to events that did not exist. Upon embarkation, 3 pieces of luggage arrived and we had to wait anxiously for the missing 4th bag. Soup would arrive by room service without a spoon. The meals served in the Dining Room were terrible: we took 10 meals in specialty dining (Tamarind was good). Entertainment was non-existent. The performances in Lincoln Centre and Bill board were sub-par. The "shows" in the World Stage were hardly worth going to. The quality just was not there. The BB King band played the same beat, same sound, every night from 8PM and 11PM: how many "swings" can you dance to? Guests pleaded with the band and DJ to play some rumba, waltz, fox trot, samba: they just would not listen. We got 2 x 45 minutes "tea dances" in 14 days: that was all we got. There were also some "secret dances" arranged by certain guests that the rest of the guests were not allowed into: a lot of "secrecy" that we had never seen before. The younger guests complained they had nothing to do after 11PM, and the "older" guests also found themselves bored to tears.
We really wanted to leave the ship after 7 nights: but we had paid a lot and they would not offer a partial refund. It did not help that the ship is smaller than many modern vessels, and the ship rocked severely the first week. Quite a few guests got sea-sick when the seas were rough. WIFI was more expensive than most ships but it worked well. Room attendants were good: that and the complementary laundry and dry-cleaning were probably the best part.
Not as spacious as anticipated, but adequate.
