Chose this cruise for the experience and to visit places in southern WA not seen before.
After cruises on the QM2, was a bit concerned that I might not like this smaller vessel. Happy to say I liked it a lot. Seemed more a real naval vessel than larger ships. The lack of glamour was no problem - no space wasted on grand atriums, sweeping staircases and wide passageways. Not that such luxuries as these are not enjoyable - they are - but the Astor is such value for money, and everything necessary was provided, and more. Scrupulously clean everywhere. Excellent dining facilities and food. Comfy bed, with the best pillows. Contained within the cabin is a cupboard holding extra pillows, blankets and pool towels, - nice to not have to ask for these. Liked the fact that dining companions were seen about the ship, and greetings exchanged.
Disappointing that a number of shore excursions were cancelled, due to lack of bookings. Prices were at the top end, so this could perhaps be reviewed to attract more passengers.
Larger than it looks in the online photos. Plenty of room really - and a good sized window. Steward most efficient, and does a great job.
