Sail Date: Jan 2017

We chose the cruise so that we could meet up with friends from Maryland who we had met on a previous Viking River Cruise. Originally we were going to sail on the 15th January but the British Government advised not to go to North Africa, Viking contracted us to cancel and so we changed to a week earlier for the cruise from Barcelona to Rome. Viking were extremely helpful with the change and even booked us in Club Class for the journey out and also gave us a cabin upgrade.

The journey and transfer to the ship all went well and our cabin was up to the high standard we expect from Viking with plenty of room and all the facilities you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Facilities on the ship were very good and one of the most noticeable things was that it was never crowded. There always seemed to be seats for entertainment or relaxing for a pre-dinner drink. Food on the ship was also of a high standard, of course accompanied by wines or beers and service in the restaurants very good. We tried all dining options during our trip and were not disappointed. Overall the crew on the ship were very friendly.

Entertainment on the ship was enjoyable and of a high standard and shore excursions were good and well planned. We were late docking in Rome due to bad weather but Viking rearranged the included shore tours with very little notice although some extra tours had to be cancelled and reimbursed.

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Veranda

Very clean and well attended during our stay. Free mini-bar and toiletries plus safe for valuables. The bed was very comfortable and everything we required seemed to be in the room.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

A tour of the usual sights in Barcelona with good views over the city.

Toulon

Went on a tour to Marseille and also a tour of Toulon, both of which were enjoyable.
