You have to accept that Oriana is a ship and the sea and weather can determine many things. She is not a hotel as on land so before you book understand that ships float on water and things can get bumpy and leaks may occur and it really is not an ideal place for the elderly in poor health or not too clever on their feet. Oriana as a ship albeit a little old (like its senior passengers) has been refitted to high standards and is beautiful.
If you choose to cruise on her you will be pleasantly surprised about how much she has got right when compared to other cruises (not amusement park type cruises). Hospitality, décor, service, great HOT food, all score top marks with consistency throughout the entire ship every single day. What's wrong with her? Nothing ! Ok, so they left the Christmas decorations on the jetty when they sailed, Christmas & New Year is what you make it and if you are surrounded by moaners then you have to do it yourself. We had a great time and a few moans ourselves but it didn't get in the way of our enjoyment of the cruise.
The cabin was spotless with great service from maid Roselyn, thanks. Drinks and ice delivered free of charge every night by room service. Dining was fabulous in all restaurants but the Shindu and Beach House made special nights perfect. Entertainment was ok, but ballroom dominated the cruise to the upset of all ages that were still breathing and young at heart. Made a donation to charity when Tom O'Connor got on stage, please retire. The itinerary was ok too, missed one port, but needs a little rearranging as some ports were closed and being at sea at New Year was a bit boring when the weather was bad due to the captain changing direction due to the swell.
Fabulous and quiet close to terrace pool.
