After doing months of research, we, 2 early 30's couple who loves good food, snorkeling, minimal kids and short itinerary (as it's our first time) chose the Celebrity Solstice's 8 day Sydney-New Caledonia-Sydney cruise.

The whole embarkation process was very smooth and we were lucky that we boarded without any problems (unlike the long queue at Guest Relations).

The ship itself is beautiful, tastefully decorated, the staff courteous and just lovely (some very chatty! In a good way though).

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2A

Cabin 2A

It was generally quite nice, although 2 of the nights at sea it was not as calm as at a port (and not that bad at all) yet we could hear a clanging sound throughout the night, very hard to sleep through yet we couldn't find what it was!

The ceiling above the TV was making a little creaking noise but the clanging dominated.

Port Reviews

Sydney (Australia)

Lots of things to do and eat, most people onboard are from Sydney so they would know it better than me!

Noumea

The market is probably the most interesting, quite big and good for souvenir shopping, get them done here!

Isle of Pines (New Caledonia)

It's a beautiful island, the snorkeling is pretty good near the sacred rock - didn't see many seasnakes as others had mentioned, but got a few boxes ticked as we saw a seaturtle, 3 stingrays separately and a lionfish! Please look after this place and don't walk on the corals, I saw many people walking all over it and someone even dive to break a coral off, it was disgusting behaviour.

Lifou

The best snorkeling we've had in New Caledonia, at Jinek Bay. There's an entry fee of $15 AUD (or 1000 franc), bring your own reef shoes and snorkel gears, and please look after this place, Jinek is quite well looked after with beautiful colours and varieties of coral, keep it this way!
