We chose this cruise to recuperate from a crazy fall/early winter. Embarkation was a breeze and, despite cold weather in NJ, we were out on deck to go under the Verrazono Bridge. All of our luggage was at our stateroom before 4 pm. This was our 3rd cruise and the first one where the drill was held completely indoors. Our stateroom attendant, Carol, was so wonderful and wanted to do even more for us than she did. What a pleasure!

The at sea days flew by. We loved going to the hot tub and exploring around this ship, the largest we have sailed on. Our stateroom had lots of storage space, more than we could use! The shows weren't our cup of tea, and we're very loud--even with earplugs, but others seemed to enjoy them. There were some fun bands that we danced to in the evening and we would drop in to some of the trivia games.

We enjoyed the Windjammer Cafe for informal dining or snacks, but our real find was the Solarium. John was our waiter and our dinners with him were wonderful! It was a smaller venue and we felt like it was our own dining spot. We did try Silk and the other main dining room once each. Silk was nice however the other one (American ?) had bad acoustics that caused us to have to raise our voices to speak with each other. Back to the Solarium we went. I'm cheap and didn't go to any of the "cash" restaurants. We had plenty of delicious food. We ordered room service (which is free) three mornings. The second morning, we needed it by 7:30 and it hadn't arrived by 7:35, so I don't know if ever arrived. However, on the mornings that we were relaxed it was very nice.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

I don't know that it was "superior", but we had a very slightly obstruced view because of the lifeboats. That was just fine! The view was still great and I loved sitting out on the balcony. It was also very useful to air dry our laundry! As I mentioned there was so much storage that we didn't even use all of the space.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

The commute from our hotel to the port was a little long, but next time we will get an earlier shuttle.

Martinique

Arriving on a Sunday in a very devout Roman Catholic country made for a quiet day. We were happy for the lull. I'm not sure the RCI should visit.

Barbados

We had a personal connection and went to Codrington College. What a beautiful site!

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

A very poor country, but lovely people. The bell tower climb in the Anglican Church is STEEP and beautiful! Very much worth the donation.
