Our group of six couples (in our 40's and 50's) met up early in San Juan to explore, dine, and drink...but officially to let our luggage catch up in case it was misrouted. We visited the fort and OId San Juan, and enjoyed the Three Kings festivities.
Check-in and embarkation was smooth, and headed down to dinner. I haven't been on a cruise in awhile, but it seems like there were lots of tanks, shorts, and flip-flops on the first night. The staff began enforcing some of the rules later in the week, but it sure seemed different from the last time I was on a ship.
Dinner was nothing to write home about...and never was for the entire week. We noticed a little friction among the servers ("order your wine from me so I get the tip.") Our waiter had a really tough time communicating in English, and we struggled most of the time. We gave up ordering specialty coffee drinks with dessert since our drinks never arrived with our sweets, and became a hassle even though most of us had the Ultimate Beverage Package.
Perfect location. Not to high, right smack in the middle of the ship. I hardly felt any movement even during rough seas. Bed was much harder than we're used to, with very little relief offered, even though Super Attendant Reggie tried his best. Just enough room for us, but we could've used a few more hangers in our closet.
