We chose this cruise because it was convenient: it sailed from Galveston and we live in Austin. The ship itself (Liberty of the Seas) is okay. It could do with a bit of sprucing up, but I didn't find that a problem. Our cabin (a standard balcony one ) was also fine. Smallish, but okay. There are nowhere near enough electric outlets. The only one in the bathroom is in the ceiling and cords fall right out. The service was not as good as I am used to, but not terrible. The staff were less likely than on other cruises to smile and say hi.
The main reason for my low score is that there was just about nothing to do. Evening entertainment pretty good. But during the day, particularly on sea days (of which there were 3), I found almost nothing that interested me. There are sales pitches for spa services, jewelry and watches, liquour, art and random junky stuff. There is bingo, casino gambling, and the men's belly flop contest. A couple of Trivia games. Not much choice of music. No jazz, for example. No lectures on things like the places we'd be visiting. Or navigation. Or anything except, for example, Diamonds International. Even the daily newsletter said almost nothing about the ports or what to do there. Just more ads. And more ads.
The food at the buffet is okay. I rate it below Princess and well below, for example, Oceania. I think this is the first cruise I've been on where there was not smoked salmon and chocolate croissants every morning. The specialty restaurants, while not cheap, were good.
Okay. Most cabins we've been in on other ships have been better.
