Background: This is our 9th cruise.  2 on Celebrity (my favorite), 2 on Carnival, 1 on Princess and 4 on RCCL. My husband wanted to go to Alaska, but I really wasn't that keen on the idea.  I love 90 degrees, blue water and an umbrella drink.  Going on vacation where I have to wear a sweater isn't my idea of vacation. However, since he has always taken me on different cruises to the Caribbean, I decided to surprise him for our 36th wedding anniversary. We flew from ATL to Seattle.  Came in a day early so that we could do some sightseeing in Seattle.  I love Seattle, beautiful city, great places to eat (try the Tap Room Bar and Grill).  Had a great time at Pike's Market.  I chose the Grand Hyatt Hotel.  Cannot say enough the staff of the Grand Hyatt (especially Jazz and Scott).  Embarkation in Seattle - All I can say is "patience is a virtue" cause you are going to need it.  It is very obvious this port has not been in operation as long as the ports in Florida and San Juan.  So be prepared, you will experience some challenges. The Ship - The Infinity is still a beautiful ship.  It does show some signs of wear, but after saling another line that had more patterns going on that a bad acid trip, I was overjoyed to be on the Infinity, wear and all.  The crew continued to clean and we were told to use the sanitizer as we boarded the ship.  We were escorted to our Concierge Balcony Cabin and everything we expected was there and in order.  I suppose when Infinity goes into dry dock we will see some upgrades in the cabins. Considering the ship is close to being 10 years old, the ship looks great.Food: The food was pretty good on the ship although I don't think the chefs are trained by Michael Roux anymore.  I will say the amount of food and selection has diminished.  Room service is excellent. Because we were on the CC level we received h'orderves.  Now let me just call it what it is.  Those are about the nastiest things I have ever eaten.  They were bad when we sailed the Millenieum and they are bad on the Infinity.  After 2 days, I requested cookies instead.  They happily obliged. Also, try the alternative dining.  You can make a reservation on the "Lido" deck for an evening meal that is a step above the regular dining room, but not as expensive as the $30 per person alternative dining.  The charge is only a tip for your waitstaff.  They ask for a $2.00 tip.  Passengers: I was happy to see this cruise was much more diverse than I expected.  Not only in ethnic makeup, but also in terms of age. Activitites:  Not exactly my idea of night life, but I was able to to do some dancing in the Constellation Lounge.  Now mind you, if you want to dance like I like to dance, you have to tell the DJ what to play or you will hear more 80s music than you can stand. The activities could really use some upgradiing.  Now I know my husband and I are in our mid 50's, but we are really active and the nightlife was really boring to me.  The shows were OK, but still didn't do much for me either.  Debarkation: Loved the idea of taking my own luggage and walking off the ship.  Since we took advantage of this option, we were off the ship and back at the Grand Hyatt by 8:30 a.m.All in all I enjoyed the ship.  It was a relaxing vacation becajuse that is really all you could do on this ship. I enjoyed seeing the beauty of Alaska, especially the Hubbard Glacier (FABULOUS),  along with the wildlife (whales in the ocean, bald eagles flying in Ketchican) and the beauty of the mountains.  However, I wouldn't go back on an Alaskan Cruise if it was free.  Give me Hawaii or the Caribbean. One more thing....Be aware, you cannot take clothes irons on this ship.  If it is in your luggage, it will be removed. I think if they are going to almost require you to use their laundry, Celebrity needs to think about adding self service laudromats like Carnival and Princess.
