We decided to take this cruise because we were just three points short of Crown & Anchor Diamond status. I knew what to expect because one of my best friends and I sailed on Majesty's sister ship Monarch of the Seas in 2009, but it was my husband's first cruise on an 'old' ship (other than the Amerikanis back in the '80s), so I was thrilled with his positive reaction to our ocean-view stateroom and his overall cruise experience on the Majesty. I agree wholeheartedly. Considering the age of the ship, other than the stained carpet that greeted us when we boarded, Majesty still has a lot to offer: very friendly staff in all areas; better food than was offered on one of the newer Royal Caribbean ships we sailed on in 2016; great service in both the main dining room (thanks to Sheldon and Dimitro) and the Windjammer; very good entertainment - especially Comedian Stephen Thomas, the Majesty of the Seas Orchestra, and Fresh Beat's music. Our room attendant, Latif, was quick to respond. He graced us with a towel-art baby elephant and a handsome dog, and he made sure we had plenty of ice. On the downside, the elevators were a bit slow - but it made us use the stairs more often, so that was good! Since we live only 1-1/2 hours from Port Canaveral, I think we'll likely sail on Majesty OTS again.
Our room was large enough for a short cruise such as the 3- and 4-night that Majesty offers. We did feel that the mattress quality/condition could definitely be improved. Latif added another pad and, while it did help a little, it was still not very comfortable.
As usual, we went over to Paradise Island. We normally visit Senor Frog's when we're in Nassau, but this time we just ran out of time.
In our opinion, Port Canaveral is THE best when it comes to ease of boarding and disembarkation. We 'walked' off and, even though many others did as well, the lines kept moving and we were in our cars and on our way home within a half an hour of getting in line.
