Just took a 5-day cruise on the Carnival Fantasy from Mobile, Alabama. First impressions, it was cool. Had to wear pants for two days until we finally got to Progresso Mexico. We stayed in E239. I am so used to balconies that the room felt a bit too dark since there was no natural light. Very roomy showers but the toliet didn't have enough elbow room. The Room Service people were fantastic! They moved a bed to help with seasickness. Apollo was courteous and very helpful. When I booked I mentioned I it was my birthday. In response there was a $50 gift card towards the Spa. I was able to get a massage special. They were handing out these flyers on Thursday for spa specials. 60 minutes for $110! So I thought, why not use the gift card? My masseuse was from Zimbabwe. Turns out she was able to give me it for $99! Was perfect.

I was amazed how little entertainment was on the ship. They only had two shows, both on sea days. Normally I take a 7-day where they have shows every night. I was disappointed in the Dining Room staff in the Jubilee Dining Room. We had table #369. We were late the first night. We sat down and were given menus. None of the staff (John or Norman) introduced themselves. I had to request coffee three times before I got it and had to keep asking for them to refill my cup. Finally on Wednesday I ask Metin (the fabulous maitre) for help. After that my cup was full. I will say Metin greeted everyone, was helpful and even chipped in when the staff were busy. Both John and Norman were did there job but never smiled, never joked and seemed to me that we were a burden to be dealt with as fast as possible. Iputu, another server, was much more helpful. Always asking if I needed help when he had time. There was another waiter that was brought in for the dining room dance routine. His name is Richmond and he can dance! His dancing brought a smile to my face. The ship actually swayed back and forth. So much so that I was been moved by it.

The engines were quite loud as they pulled into ports. Our first port was Progress where we had an excursion to go to Uxmal (pronounced Ush-mal). It was great. Pathetic lunch provided but Alberto was quite knowledgeable. The temple that produces bird song, the area that had surround sound and of course, the Mayan temple to climb. Yes, you still can climb two of the buildings. The bigger one has 75 large steps. My friend went up, I didn't. There was a small area to shop that didn't have 2x sizes in t-shirts I wanted. The next stop was Cozumel. We had an Turtle and Snorkeling excursion which was cancelled due to low interest. Instead, we shopped.

Cabin 4A

When we first got it, one of the bed was in a normal position, headboard against wall but the other was against the other wall along its side. My cabin roommate mentioned how she got sea sick in such a layout that we asked Apollo, the room service guy to please change it. He did. The motion of the ship was very obvious to me and I actually swayed with the ship. There is no natural light, but there is a channel on the tv with different natural images we used to brighten up the room. Roomy shower. Banged my elbow a few times while on the toilet.
