Jacksonville is a convenient drive-to port, and we had not been aboard the Carnival Elation previously. Booking our first back-to-back cruises, total 10 days, we were optimistic that we would not be bored. As 80+ though active passengers, we especially appreciate the perks of being "platinum" Carnival cruisers. With early check in, we went directly to our prepared cabin to unload minimal carry-on bags and then had an early lunch; afterwards, we retreated to our cabin during the boarding process for most passengers. Platinum level guests also receive free laundry, depending on the cruise length, a chocolate tray delivered to the cabin, a platinum/diamond party, and other amenities, depending on the ship.

The safety drill always seems to take longer than necessary since most passengers appear to wander to their assigned stations in a leisurely manner; more emphatic announcements could help this issue.

Overall, our cabin was quite comfortable despite drawer handles that are loose and aged furnishings like the wall-mounted, older TV that is a hazard for those walking to the window. An extensive dry-dock call in September, 2017 should address many issues.

Cabin 6B

The bed was firm and comfy; bed linens were clean and soft. Room was cleaned daily and well provided. Our steward, DWI was charming and reliable. We assume the TV that projects from the wall near the window will be replaced at renovation time. At all times, we were comfortable.
