My husband and I have been on 3 Norwegian cruises so we figured it was time to try Royal Caribbean. I want to start with what we loved about this cruise: 1. The ship is immaculate and huge! Lots of awesome features like the Ripcord by Ifly and the North Star. It's kept extremely clean and there's always something to do. 2. The WIFI is AMAZING! I have to work from the ship so the WIFI alone was worth it to me.
That being said there were a few things that disappointed us. Before the cruise even started we were mislead by customer service via the 1800 number on a few aspects including cabin size and what was provided in the room. We were told by 3 different CS representatives that there would be a coffee maker in the room. My husband is an insomniac and needs his coffee RIGHT THERE when he wakes up. Well, there was NO coffee maker in the room. "Oh just call room service" they said. OK, room service is always a 30-45 minute wait! No matter what you order! The point is, we would have taken our own coffee maker on board but figured since 3 different agents told us there was a coffee maker....and we saw it in multiple online VLOGS on the Anthem....we figured we were good. When there wasn't one in the room we asked if they could PLEASE get us one. They told us "Only suites get coffee makers" OK that's fine but since you screwed up could you just lend us one??? Nope, they said there was absolutely NO coffee makers to be had on the ship accept for Suite members! I just thought that was rude! There was also some other information discrepancies between what we were told via the 1800 number/website vs. what happened. Hopefully in the future they will communicate the proper information to their phone representatives.
Another thing I was looking forward to, but was extremely disappointed in was the Trapeze and Rock Climbing Wall. The people in charge were beyond unmotivational. One person was mumbling as she was telling us how to use the Trapeze. We had to wait on a 45 minute line to use it and then we got about 30 seconds. I hope in the future they have reservations for that and turn it into more of a class like the Ripcord.
Milton is a great Steward! Super nice and friendly. We would leave the room for 10 minutes and by the time we were back it was 100% clean!
We live in NYC so signed up for a Royal Caribbean provided bus to the Port. They never posted the meeting location of the bus on the website so when we called to ask we were told: Times Square. Times Square is HUGE! Finally we found out that it was THE WESTIN but this information should have been up on our MYCRUISES page on the site as well as easily attainable to customer service. The Westin Hotel technically isn't even in Times Square so if we hadn't inquired further we would not have found the bus meeting location!
There's so much to do in San Juan! You can either take an excursion or just walk around! It's a beautiful city.
We only walked around immediately off the ship. One block in the wrong direction looked really sketchy.
We took a taxi to the downtown area and it was extremely shabby. There was only a couple blocks of shopping and it was the same ole same ole: Diamonds International etc.
