As someone who has gone on multiple cruises on different cruise lines, I was excited about trying Norwegian for the first time and excited to go to Key West and Cozumel. I should have done more homework on the boat we would be on. Norwegian has some beautiful boats (I saw multiple in port in Mexico.. BEAUTIFUL).. unfortunately the Jade is not one of them, quite dated with less than modern amenities (in my opinion). The first issue we ran into wasn't anything Norwegian could do anything about, but fog caused a major delay, keeping us docked, which cost us more money as taxes needed to be charged and caused things like the casino to not be open. It also caused us to cut Key West out of the trip, which was a major disappointment. We got out to sea, and the cruise had allowed for maintenance crews to shut down the pool, start dismantling the slide, and do work on the pool... during the cruise. The pool deck is small to begin with, with only two pools.. the main one which was the one shut down, and another small one right next to it. 100% unacceptable to do that during a cruise. It caused overcrowding around the other pool, kids were extremely disappointed. Not to mention noise, and unsightly "caution" tape surrounding the pool and pieces of the slide sitting on the sun deck. They also conveniently had a huge dumpster taking up space on the second level of the sun deck with more caution tape surrounding that. The service at the bars at the pool deck was poor, took forever, bartenders were inattentive and while not mean, they certainly were more interested in joking with each other than engaging with the passengers. There were some bright spots, such as the restaurants availability, food quality, and service in the restaurants all exceeded my expectations. The stewards who cleaned the rooms or any other cabin services were friendly, prompt, and attentive. The customer service folks at the guest service desk seemed less knowledgeable than one would expect, simple questions seemed unable to be answered and there was no attempt to go beyond saying "I don't know" to try and find the customer an answer. Overall, the experience really didn't meet our expectations. I will have to pay much closer attention to the actual boat next time before booking.

Cabin Review

Inside

Cabin IC

cabin was what you would expect for an inside cabin, nothing stellar, but clean and nice enough. The stewards who serviced our floor were really quite fantastic.

Port Reviews

Tampa

experience getting on boat was good, not stressful.

Cozumel

Cozumel was nice. The taxi folks were quick, kind, and made good recommendations. The beach club we went to for the day, was great.
