Left on 30th Dec, New Year's cruise. White Bay was a little hard to find initially but once there the boarding process was easy, quick and hassle free. Equally finding our cabin and having our luggage delivered was prompt and again hassle free.
However the cabin, more precisely the bathroom was a disgrace. We paid premium rates for a balcony suite, and yes we got the balcony but the state of the bathroom was unbelievable. The wall had very old waterproof sheeting which was bubbling, the metal joints were rusty and there was evidence of mould on the silicone joints. The tiled floor was equally unbelievable, tiles loose and concrete loose underfoot. Very unpleasant. They did glue down the tiles on the third day. The rest of the room was quite pleasant, but every time I had to go into the bathroom, I shuddered.
I had notified P & O that I was gluten free and unfortunately the choices for me were boring and uninviting, so I chose to put my own food choices together and that worked ok. The restaurant "Salt"was excellent, "Waterfront Restaurant"was inclusive of cost and pretty good food. The "Plantation Restaurant"which was also price inclusive was good food but repetitive. As far as the entertainment goes, good variety and choices but disappointed with the actual New Year's activities which I think could have been better organised.. Generally the entertainment catered for the young set and since we are a retired couple, our choices were not so good.
As I mentioned earlier, the biggest disappointment of the whole experience. If the room we had onshore it wouldn't rate a 2 star. How can you charge $600 a night for the sort of room we had?
Drove straight to White Bay from the Central Coast, would much have preferred Circular Quay, but that's life!
