We have enjoyed many Seabourn cruises and relished them all.We sailed on the Odyssey approximately 15 months ago and as usual our journey was sensational. We have always been very impressed with the food, wine, service and the special events that have made Seabourn shine. We have recommended Seabourn to friends and acquaintances and would never have considered sailing with any other luxury cruise line. We embarked on this cruise expecting more of the same and to enjoy a well-deserved break and a beautiful Christmas and New Year. The fact that this cruise met none of our expectations and ruined our anticipated holiday is reprehensible.

The ship was overloaded with inexperienced staff who at times had no idea what they were doing. There were no smiles and absolutely no recognition of passengers who like to be acknowledged by name. Being greeted in the Colonnade every morning with “hello lovely lady” by the acting supervisor, who we have met on the Pride, is not Seabourn style. It is just plain lazy.Delays in service in the Colonnade and the Club were frustrating. On occasion, it took 15 minutes to order a tea or coffee at breakfast. Six staff with forty-four seated patrons should have provided far more efficient service. The club was understaffed at times and this resulted in a 20-minute wait to be served at times. The Restaurant often faced similar problems.

The wine on the ship was certainly not appropriate for a 6-star cruise. We would not drink McGuigan chardonnay at home nor would we drink Oyster Bay sauvignon blanc. These wines are under $10 a bottle wholesale and totally unsatisfactory. It also became apparent that staff had very limited knowledge of the wines available. If they are not capable of informing guests of the wines on offer, then at least provide a wine list. We always drink Louis Latour chardonnay on Seabourn, a wine that appeared to be unavailable on this ship until the 14th day despite asking several times what chardonnay was available. On the 14th day we were told it was always available.

Cabin Review

Veranda Suite

Cabin V6

On a positive note the cabin was excellent as usual and we had the best cabin steward we have ever had on Seabourn. It was her first contract with Seabourn and she was a star. Thank you Maria for making this aspect of our journey so pleasurable and let's hope Seabourn holds onto her.
