I just wanted a cruise that would cross through Christmas and the children suggested we try Carnival.Firstly were left 2 hours late 6pm instead of 4pm so after getting to Miami and staying at a hotel a day in advance to be sure you are on time; waste of effort and money. I also need to suggest that a wind tunnel is no place for a safety briefing, other than the persons on the end the Team Members did not show those of us in the middle section the life jacket procedure. The room placement was directly below god knows what and there was so much pulling, pushing, rolling noise no one could sleep, had to take sleeping tablets. Since I thought incorrectly that it was housekeeping that’s who I called, the response from housekeeping services was not good “madam you chose the room to the front what did you expect”.

I apologise that my husband in his anxiousness wanted to try an ocean view room instead of our usual balcony and we did not know where we would be placed. Upon entry our room had garbage in the bathroom bin and half empty wine glass and dirty tissue on the dresser, immediately I thought omg they may not have changed the sheets. Before we could even call to request service the steward appears and asks what time we would prefer to have our room cleaned. Now having never been on Carnival before and not familiar with anything on board we said morning, little did we know that if you get sick, or have to take sleeping pills to sleep because of the noise overhead and do not leave the room in the morning it would never be cleaned. My husband had to call and request service on Christmas Eve and around 6pm our room got cleaned.

On our second night we visited the dining room to see the menu but having forgotten my glasses I could not read it. After waiting quite a while for the maître d, a waitress approached and asked if I need help I explained I could not read the menu outside as I had left my glasses she said “wait” came back with a smaller version of the menu almost slapped it into my hand with a look that said to me “don’t waste my time”; the couple standing behind me commented, it was that bad. I turned and left, I did speak to guess services but that of course was no help. Needless to say we did not eat in the dining room any night except for Christmas night.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

The utv was great however it was so rushed taking pictures was a problem and considering the price it was a sparse lunch

Aruba

Our tour was cancelled so we toured the town on our own and used the tram and took our time
