Our family of four, two daughters between 16 and 20, sailed from Galveston on January 2, 2017 for a 6 day Caribbean cruise. This was our 6th cruise, and the 2nd on Royal Caribbean. We live in Houston and drove to the port. Embarkation was very easy and quick. We ate at the Windjammer and shortly after that our cabins were available. Although we usually have a veranda, we opted for an inside cabin. Not only did we not miss the veranda, but we loved the darkness provided by an inside cabin. Everything on the cruise was wonderful, save for the main dining room and the Windjammer. While service at both was as good as we had hoped, the food quality disappointed. The two comedians were pretty funny, especially their adult shows. The cruise staff was everything we expected. While we were looking forward to the Saturday Night Fever show, it was canceled due to an injury to a lead performer, which was disappointing. We were able to watch the Texans game ion a big screen in one of the bars which was a lot of fun. We ate one dinner at Sabor, the Mexican specialty restaurant and it was excellent. We enjoyed t so much that we also ate a lunch while at sea there. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner in both the main dining room as well as Windjammer and neither provided a memorable meal. Windjammer was less disappointing probably because our expectations were lower. Overall, the food experience dampened the cruise and the quality needs to improve. Despite the food, we all had a great time.
Cabin was clean and neat and provided everything that we needed
We walked around the port which has lots of the typical shops.
