We are normally Disney Cruise Line Cruisers but this past December we chose a different path to try something different. Big mistake!!!! We went on the Norwegian Epic after reading reviews that seemed pretty good. My wife was detained by herself in our stateroom for more than an hour by security personnel totaling the number of 6 Norwegian personnel in the room with her with the door shut interrogating her over the room safe malfunctioning on Christmas night. When I approached guest services about the aforementioned event, they did nothing except send a bottle of cheap wine and 4 chocolate strawberries to our room after I explicitly stated I wanted nothing except an apology from every crew member involved in the incident. Then when I requested to speak with the hotel director, I was told that was not possible multiple occasions through the duration of our cruise. Eventually, we were able to locate the hotel director and had a meeting where again I was offered things of monetary value which we declined because we wanted an apology. The Hotel Director told my wife that this is how Norwegian does things. This event ruined our vacation and Christmas because my wife was frightened to be in the room herself and she felt like she had been a prisoner within our room. This event was exceptionally unacceptable for the reason being it was over the room safe not being able to be opened so she could get her phone to take pictures of our family around the ship on Christmas night. I will never sail a Norwegian cruise ever again. We are 6 time Disney Cruise Line guests and cruise almost every year for Christmas and the poor service we received on Norwegian does not compare at any level. It is really unfortunate that our vacation was ruined.

Beyond this incident, we missed our port of call Jamaica due to high winds which I can understand safety issues that might have come into play. The company line of Norwegian must be "I don't know" because every time I would ask an employee a question from the time we checked in till the end of the cruise that was the common answer from all the employee's.

As for the food, I would have rather eaten at 7-11 most of the time. Bananas that were brown, dessert that was rock hard or stale, and hamburger buns that had to have been at least 5-6 days old because you would take a bite and the bun would fall apart aside from the burger patty sitting for hours on the buffet bar by the pool deck.

Cabin Review

Inside

Cabin ID

Small, which is normal for most cruise ships but the toilet is on the left and the shower is on the right immediately when walking in your room. I mean its right there. 1 more foot and you would be sitting in the hallway.

Port Reviews

Great Stirrup Cay

Nice Island but make sure you bring your water shoes. There is a great many rocks in the water that several people I spoke to cut there feet on. The water is clear and the sand is good. You do have to tender to the island so make sure you schedule a tender the day before. Lunch is served and there are several bars located on the island
