This was our first cruise on Celebrity. To put this review in perspective: we are a family of three (50s with teenage daughter). We like to stay active. We have a family rule of "no elevators/stairs only" while on the ship, and try (not always successfully) to make a point of not getting our money's worth on the food on a cruise (in quantity). We like adventures, being outside, and seeing the shows on the ship. We're edging toward Elite status on Princess, but wanted to try the Celebrity Equinox to see how it compared. With that in mind, here's how the two cruise lines compared for us.
Celebrity wins hands down on the layout and quality of the cabin. Not even close! From the solid shower stall (as opposed to the shower curtain on Princess) to the third bunk coming down in back, to having a big bed (instead of two split), it wasn't even close. Loved the cabin. As on most cruise lines, the room steward was impeccable too.
Celebrity also has a much nicer ship interior in our opinions. They welcome you into this when you come on board with a free welcome glass of champagne. Very classy.
7158 was very quiet and dark. Good cabin if you just use your cabin for sleeping and getting ready!
Fort Lauderdale is easy to go in and out of, but we're a bit bored with the surrounding area. After being in the Caribbean, it's also harder to appreciate Fort Lauderdale's steep, loose beach.
