This was our first (and probably last) cruise with NCL, having cruised with Princess previously. Firstly, we made a decision to walk to the port from our accommodation in Valparaiso. This was a complete disaster, as you have to check-in at a different port from where the ship is docked. It took us forever to get there, so make sure you get transport from your hotel and they know exactly where to go!
In comparison to Princess cruises, we found the bar staff on NCL to be very disinterested and unenthusiastic. We weren't impressed with the "All inclusive" beverage package, which didn't include water or coffee and had a poor choice of spirits (no single malt whisky, in particular, as that is usually our drink of choice). Cocktails were pre-made and uninspiring. Our cabin steward was lovely, however, and kept our cabin nice and clean, and made towel animals every night. Our cabin 1009 was in a good location and had heaps of cupboard/storage space.
The food in general was quite good, but not up to Princess standards. We ate at the Specialty restaurants on 5 occasions and we really didn't think it worth the extra cost. The food at the main restaurants were just as good. Entertainment and at sea day activities were quite good and varied.
Lots of storage space and a good location.
