As stated in the previous reviews the embarkation was NOT good. The ship having to anchor in Trieste rather than Venice because of fog made it difficult for passengers and Viking employees. The passengers were bused from Venice to Trieste and we're not able to board the ship until later in the evening. The ships' restaurants were closed by the time we were on board, but room service was available and quite good.
Once on board the ship, the cruise experience was much better. Viking has since given each of us a $250 voucher for our next cruise in light of the embarkation snafu. The food on board was outstanding. My husband and I found the restaurant service to be good. The pool grill was especially wonderful, great hamburgers!!! We also enjoyed Mamsen's. Wonderful waffles. Manfredi's and the Chef's Table were a delight.
Our cabin was comfortable, the space between the bed and wall was narrow, but the size of the bath helped make up for this issue. The closet was quite nice, but the drawer space was challenging. I must say our cabin steward "Pande" was fabulous. There when you needed him, invisible when you didn't. Our cabin was clean, tidy, and the bath was spotless.
Great location.
Walked the city on our own
City looks tired, money problems, I think
Interesting place, just not quite enough time in port
By far the most beautiful place we've ever seen. Did the HOHO bus right outside the port, perfect!!
Could have skipped this port
Very well done. Crowded with holiday visitors.
Took the People Mover from the port and took swather taxi on the Grand Canal. Did this on our own.
