We sailed on the Grandeur June 19, 2009, our first cruise on Royal Caribbean.  We are a family of four my husband and I are in our 40's.  We have a son, age 13, and a daughter, age 11.  We have done 4 Disney cruises, but we wanted a new itinerary.  So we headed to Canada. We stayed the night before the cruise at a Comfort Inn near the airport.  They have a wonderful deal.  If you stay one night, you can leave your car at the hotel.  They will shuttle you back and and forth to the port.  On our trip, breakfast was also included.  A great deal, and the staff was very nice and helpful.Embarkation was easy.  Our luggage appeared in good time well before dinner.  We were in an Owner's Suite, which was VERY nice.  We had lots of room, and I loved the bathroom.  The balcony was wonderful and spacious.  Our suite attendant was friendly and efficient.  The room was absolutely great. Our dinners at night were pretty good, some better than others.  I was surprised at the number of vegetarian dishes available.  Some nights it seemed there were more veggie dishes than meat dishes.  I have never been overly happy with cruise food.  My best food experience was on Carnival.  This food was better than average.  The food in the Windjammer was not as good to me.  I hated fighting the crowds of people, and the taste was bland.  On a final note, it irks me to have to pay for Coke/soda.  Disney eliminated this charge several years ago.  It's a hassle more than anything. The shows were variable.  I think this cruise was geared more to an older crowd.  I enjoyed all the shows, but I liked the production shows and the Argentinian drummers the best.  Possibly the very handsome drummer has influenced my review :)  All were worth watching.  The bar staff in the Palladium were all very friendly and helpful.  I think I was a good customer! The ports/excursions were variable.  Unfortunately we had very foggy/sometimes rainy weather for the first three stops.  In St. John we took a bus tour that ended at an Irish pub.  My husband and I enjoyed it, but the children were a little bored.  In Halifax we took a tour to Peggy's Cove.  Even though it was chilly and foggy, we all loved this stop including the children.  In Bar Harbor, it was VERY foggy.  The tour wasn't very informative, but the lobster lunch was FANTASTIC!  In Boston, we did our own thing and hiked the Freedom Trail.  We ate lunch at Legal Seafood by the harbor.  At the end of the trail we were far from the boat, so we took a water taxi back.  That was fun and cheap ($1.70 per person). While I do think this cruise was geared more to older adults, we all had fun.  The ship is beautiful, the staff was helpful and friendly, the room was great and the food was pretty good.  The weather was no one's fault.  We would sail with Rotal Caribbean again.
