The wife and I found a great deal on the December 17th sailing of the Caribbean Princess for 13 days. It was a combination Western/Eastern Caribbean itinerary.

Getting there one day early from the west coast, we were exhausted. The only flight we could get was the red-eye. Arriving early in the morning on the 16th, we headed for our hotel in Fort Lauderdale, which was the Marriott Residence Inn Dania Beach.

As luck would have it, they had a room ready when we got there. (We totally took a chance by not booking the night before, and this time it worked out.) I’d recommend the hotel. It was clean, nice rooms, and it had an exercise center. The included hot breakfast was also most welcome. We considered taking an Uber to the port, but instead signed up for the Cruise Shuttle Bus for $8 a person.

Cabin Review

Interior

We stayed in a cabin on the Lido deck. These cabins are considered less desirable and can be had for great value, but we love them! You are on the same deck as the pools and Horizon Court. How could that be bad?

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Did a 1-tank scuba dive with Aqua Adventures in Sosua. Very high recommendation! Everyone was so great and the dive was enjoyable and the lunch was amazing!
