We have cruised before, but never on a Norwegian ship. We wanted cruise as a family vacation for Christmas this year. We selected Norwegian because it met the locations and timeline we wanted for our cruise. The cost was reasonable, and there were extra's included from Travelocity. We are only a few hours from NYC, so drove up and spent the night, then departed on the 19th of December. Boarding was as expected, a bit crazy, but nothing unexpected. Lunch was available while we awaited access to our rooms, they had standard items like hamburgers on the menu, and items were fine. That was the last good meal we experienced on the ship, other than our Christmas dinner.
Our room was a nice mini-suite at the aft of the ship. It was a good size for a family of four to travel, and we were comfortable. The stateroom steward was absolutely the best part of the entire ship staff. He was friendly and attentive to our entire family.
The dining experience was absolutely below any of my possible expectations.
The cabin steward was amazing. He was attentive and engaging. He learned my children's names the first day, and spoke to them every time he saw them. He kept the room in order, and clean.
