Embarkation and disembarkation were simple enough - purchased transfers from Holland America to and from the airports.  Every cruise line does it differently but the end result is the same!

The Maasdam is a lovely ship, Veranda deck cabin was great including a tub in the bathroom, and wonderful staff from dining rooms to cabin attendants.  We could drop a bar of soap and actually pick it up!  No complaints.

Previously cruised on Royal Caribbean and Princess and found that everything on this ship costs more than on past cruises.  Not a "lively" cruise in that the entertainment (from shows to smaller venues) was geared for seniors and was surprised the casino was very quiet in contrast to other trips.  Only comment on entertainment is that Jim Labriola (comedian?) was not funny to us.  Same jokes, same loud, obnoxious voice and ruined the "talent night" finals for lots of us... gave us "a heart attack."  He way overdid the Simon Cowell Wannabee comments and went on and on and on... another "heart attack."  Jamie Allan (magician) and Paul Pappas (pianist) and Holland American singers and dancers were great.   The photographs were priced from $29.99 (embarkation/port photos) to $39.99 (formal nights) and we thought that was ridiculous so bought only one photo.

Cabin Review

Lots of storage, refrigerator, great balcony and loved the bathtub!  Next to last cabin aft so pretty quiet back there!  Great aft deck to enjoy that not many people found and just a few steps from the cabin. Only 1 electrical outlet as usual.
