We flew from Dublin airport to Barcelona.  Once through customs, our RCI rep was there to meet us and whisk our luggage away.  We were moved on to the coach as soon as everyone was gathered.  The clearance at the check-in area before boarding was remarkably quick and easy.  We even organized our "My time dining" at the desk there in a matter of a minute! The ship:We were really excited to be stepping on board - and what a ship!  the decor, cleanliness, everything.  We knew that the Windjammer was open for lunch and made our way there, stopping on the way to book our wine package.  Everything was so easy.  After lunch we explored the ship and got our bearings.  our luggage appeared promptly outside our stateroom in time for changing for dinner.  Our stateroom was a sea view, and there was plenty of room for stowing away clothes.  The bed was huge, and the rounded ends helped us not to bang knees.  Tomas, our stateroom attendant, was so helpful and efficient.  We often met him on the corridor and would be greeted with a smile. Bed linen changed every day and towels changed as often as required. Dining:The my-time dining was a great idea.  We booked each day a time which suited us.  We requested a big table on the last night, and were accommodated at a table for eight.  We met different people every night, such an interesting mix of people, and made friends which we kept bumping into afterwards for chats.  I'm really glad we opted for this, and not for a set time.We didn't go to the headliner shows the first couple of nights, but on the third night we went to see the comedian.  We enjoyed him but I'm not sure his humor translated so well for the American guests. The next night we went to Gary Lavini.  We weren't sure what he did, until we went to the show.  A thoroughly enjoyable show; to be recommended; he played violin but with fab energy, a bit like Nigel Kennedy.  We had three formal nights; the first night the Captain came to the Colony club and spoke about the ship and introduced the crew.  Dinner that night was fab, and the atmosphere around the ship was fantastic.  After Venice, we had another formal night with a masquerade ball afterwards which was a great night and great fun.Ports:Our first port of call was Cannes.  Maybe I was a little slow, but I thought we were docking in Villefranche and had a walk route planned.  However, we strolled around the streets of Cannes and had a swim.  Others we spoke to afterwards who toured to Monte Carlo were impressed with their tour.We had visited Florence before, so we didn't want to go again, and had booked an RCI tour of two towns.  However, this was cancelled due to lack of numbers.  We were informed in plenty of time, and booked the wine-tasting tour instead at the Guest Relations desk, without any difficulty.  This turned out to be great fun!.  We had a tour of the winery, drinks and nibbles.  On the way back, one of the guests sang a song for us, then it was the turn of our driver, Guiliano.  Once he got on the straight road, he gave us a rendition of "O Sole Mie".Next stop, Civitavecchia. Again, having stayed in Rome before, we opted to go elsewhere.  The tourist office at the dock advised a town called Tarquinia, which was 20 mins by bus at €3.40 return. (Although we found out later the train there is only €1 - be sure if booking a train ticket to ask for the €1 to Tarquinia, as someone got charged over €30 because the train itself was going on to Pisa and they were charged full whack).Tarquinia is a beautiful town, and we visited the Etruscan tombs before we left there. At Naples, we intended to find someone to share a taxi with us to the station, and get the Circumvesuvio to Pompeii.  However, outside the terminal we met a couple who, with two other couples, were looking for another two people to share a taxi for the day.  We went along, and had a fantastic day.  Hit Pompeii early if it's warm, we did the tour (with a guide - don't do it on your own or you'll miss out on so much) at 9.15 am and by the time we'd finished it was so hot!!  We then drove on to Sorrento, and the Amalfi coast to Positano.  Fabulous scenery, Positano was such a beautiful town.  recommended for a romantic wedding.  This day was probably the highlight of our trip. After a day at sea, we arrived in Venice.  The ship sailed in slowly to port; what an entrancing sight!  Venice looked absolutely fabulous in the sunshine.  Everyone was up top to watch as we came in.  Our water bus cost €35 with as many trips over and back to the pier near St Mark's Square as you wished.  We spent the afternoon browsing around, took a trip up the belltower etc.  We returned to the ship for dinner, and headed off again to see Venice by night.  We went over the canal again next morning to visit some churches, and do some shopping.  (Didn't forget to buy a mask for our masquerade ball the following night!!).Unfortunately, the weather was dreadful in Dubrovnik; we were lucky to have taken an early shuttle bus from the pier, so we'd completed the walking of the walls before the heavens opened, but some others were not so lucky and didn't even make it off the bus, the rain and thunder was so dreadful. Our last stop was Corfu.  We walked from the terminal into town (only about 15 minutes if you take a right turn after walking for five minutes along the seafront).  we did some shopping and visited the new fort for some great views.  Corfu town reminded me of an old British colonial town, very shabby but interesting. with two sea days to complete our cruise, we enjoyed the food, sunshine and lazing about by day and the shows and good company for dinner at night.  Disembarkation was as smooth and efficient as embarkation; these people really know what they're doing. All in all, a wonderful experience.  I couldn't recommend RCI highly enough, everything was spot-on.  I would love to be going off again, next stop Alaska!!

Cabin Review

hallway was quiet, (we were halfway down) but rooms seemed to be soundproof anyway, once door was shut.
