Sail Date: Dec 2016

We booked this cruise just a couple of weeks before sailing because we wanted to get away for Christmas. We are pretty easy-going people when it comes to expectations and have cruised on most other cruise lines. We found the Holland America Eurodam to be mostly middle-age to older cruisers but being a Christmas cruise, there were a fair share of kids and large family groups as well. Overall, pretty civilized group and we found that hanging out on the pool deck at the stern of the ship was preferable for us. Larger area and it was the adults only pool so less noise.

The food was good overall in the dinning room, which is where we ate at night. The "Dive-In Burger" place on Lido deck was pretty good for lunch or a mid-day snack. Didn't care much for the Pizza with cornmeal all over the crust and an almost non existent sauce. Very tasteless compared to other ships pizza places we have tried. Buffet was good in the mornings for breakfast and we never had to wait long for made-to-order eggs or omelettes.

Despite the fact it was a Christmas sailing and I would expect the ship to be full, we didn't find ourselves waiting in line for anything. Service was fast and seemingly well organized. Our cabin was very cramped, even for just 2 people. The balcony was larger than other's we have had of other cruise ships and there was a full size tub with shower instead of a small, cramped shower stall only - that was nice.

Cabin Review

Cabin Starboard Balcony

Cabin very small & cramped. Great shower/bathtub combo with lots of room to take a decent shower or bath. Large balcony area with two chairs and a small table. Balcony is deeper than most other cruise lines.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

Took a walk around the town just outside the port we were in. Typical Mexican flea market stuff and pretty aggressive as well in terms of pressure to buys stuff. We did have a beer at a very nice place near the port. Little place by the water where they had sand and tables/chairs set up. We sat there for a while at night looking at the ships in harbour with all their lights on while we had a nice cold beer - very nice spot.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

Took a bus to 7 mile beach. hung out here for a few hours then took the buss back to town and looked around some stores. Everything is expensive on this island so if you're looking for a deal, go elsewhere!

Half Moon Cay

Great place for hanging out on the beach and swimming in beautiful shallow water. Absolutely beautiful beach area.

Key West

The weather turned really cool and windy the day we reached this port. We took a walk around town and ended up stopping at a bar on the street where they had some live music playing that morning. It was great because we were sheltered and the sun was shinning on us plus, the music was great!
