We sailed on the Celebrity Century leaving Fort Lauderdale on July 3rd, 2004. The itinerary was the Western Caribbean which includes stops in Ocho Rios Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Key West. I sailed with my family of 5 including my wife and children ages 9, 11, and 15.

This was our 3rd cruise, second with Celebrity having sailed on the Mercury in 1999. What a great cruise it turned out to be. In this review I will point out both positive and negative points. The negative points so you can learn from us. Please don't take a few small negatives to think this was a sub-par vacation. My wife and kids labeled it the best vacation ever and we have had some nice ones.

We started by arriving in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, with the cruise leaving on Saturday. We stayed at the Embassy Suites. A very nice hotel with great amenities for a family of 5 but on drawback that would make me reconsider if I do this again. The Embassy Suites is too far from the beach and the popular dining and shopping spots. My guess is about 2 miles. The breakfast buffet included with the room and the airport pickup service were great features. The room had 2 double beds and a fold out couch to fit our family of 5. We took a cab once for the trip to the popular spots and enjoyed taking the public bus a couple of times. Not only was it inexpensive, but a new experience for my kids which they thoroughly enjoyed. It is very cool to see the local life.
