The ship for being fairly small had excellent food, lamb, lobster and two fantastic surprise meals by the pool that were awesome! German food and BBQ of every type meat and desserts too. The high teas were good too in the Diningroom. The Captain was a great guy! Kept us informed about everything, offered free champagne for not being able to tender one port, and made up for it by getting us in hours ahead at next port. He afforded everyone a lot of time at Cape Horn and the Glacier and turned the ship so everyone got an equally good view! You need to book a window seat in the diningroom if you ever want to sit there! ( open seating) It's your best chance to spot a whale! ( I saw 3)
The downside was: 1) the dusty plants on the tables at the buffet were never cleaned so gross
2) the glass on the ship was very dirty so no photos from inside out
A nice roomy cabin, easy to get to near Atrium and elevators and very quiet, less motion too n Centre inside of ship
Our hotel was great, Reina Victoris, historic and right at the town centre, easy walk to shore( no beach), lots of vendors and excellent places to eat. Not a safe place though, be careful as we were warned by locals repeatedly, lots of street dogs and poor beggars too. Just stay where there's people, no jewellery or flashing money around!
My husband was sick on board so this 62 yr. old woman ventured out alone but kept to the shoreline first headed left down past flea markets, shopped, took pics of sea lions on shore and around fish market, bought a big bag of fresh cherries. I took the walkway into town and caught a local city bus (cheap about 800 pesos) over to Puerto Varas a beautiful town. I think it's German or Swiss, lovely flowers, volcanoes and lake for photos.
We did a walkabout all around town. Tons of shopping, casinos, parks and views. We caught a double decker bus for $15.00 US each and worth it. Took us to the little airport too on tour, loved it here and friendly people! Lots to see!
