We are experienced Celebrity and Azamara cruisers but for once decided to try a change as the pre Xmas timings suited us well. Our choice was made on the basis of extensive useful reading of Cruise Critic and reviews/boards here.
We had a day in Miami beforehand 'just in case' as we flew in from Europe staying at the Hilton. Took a Harbor Cruise which was fun and used the free tram a lot. From our Hilton room we could see on Friday morning that Divina had docked.
We took a cab down at 11.15 thinking this a good time for Yacht Club boarding. A butler met us and had our bags taken care us before taking us up to the lounge which to our surprise was full with virtually no seating left. We were told boarding was delayed due to the ship being searched after a Cartagena stop - the official version was simply a delay. By the time we eventually boarded at 1pm the lounge was overflowing and no attempt was made to find more chairs so many standing - not a good impression. Boarding was a scramble and we actually got up to the Yacht Club level without a butler escort! Again we knew too much from Yacht Club Reviews!
First cruise out of Miami rather than Fort Lauderdale. Very accessible and interesting city.
Took the ferry over to the town centre. Then it rained. Bough a few items and returned to ship.
Only second time here. Had studied Cruise Critic and took the tram starting at Stop 13 - downloaded map after research. If we had not started here we would not have got a seat for yours. Lots of very bad tempered tourists at Stops 14 and 1! Leisurely way to see the main sights of the city.
A rather tedious port stop.
