Our first cruise, so there was a steep learning curve! We did enjoy ourselves on this cruise and found the ship to be just fine except for 2 things: one, there really needs to be an adults-only area. We could never get into a hot tub because every one was always kid soup! No control. They were wall-to-wall, swimming in them, jumping. No thanks. Two, most of the food areas (excluding dining rooms and pizza) were right together in the same place, so lunchtime was a mob scene. I chose to give up and order room service since the lines were ridiculous for food and drinks. Nothing to be done about this issue, of course, except to plan your day differently!
We found a nice, quiet bar down inside the ship and hoped to spend some time here away from the hubbub above (Carnival is apparently a more "party" atmosphere than other lines - boy, we can attest to that!) but it was never staffed and we were disappointed.
We did a shore excursion in Progreso, which was ok but I don't think I'd choose a cruise that goes there again. But Cozumel was all I'd hoped! Wonderful time.
Loved the little balcony! I enjoyed sitting out there with a book and a glass of wine (when I could find one, haha! They apparently only expect you to order girly/party/fluff drinks!) or just hanging over the railing watching the water.
Otherwise, the room was perfectly serviceable, with enough hooks and towel racks for our wet things, only one electrical outlet so bring a strip, and the bed was comfortable. I've seen complaints about outdated "decor" but, geez, who cares?!
This being our first cruise we were assured by experienced cruisers in line near us that this was a very organized port.
No issues getting off or on the boat except for having to stand in line to reboard. Cozumel port itself nice, clean, taxis right there.
