First this was my 15th Princess cruise (so will be Elite next cruise) and my husbands 14th. We chose this itinerary as we like the Caribbean and two of the ports. and wanted to have a little warm R & R before Christmas. We chose The Regal as we had never been on her so I was excited to see how it was.IT was so different from so many others we have sailed on This was the seventh different one. We flew in from our home (Washington State) the night before and since our flights never get to Ft. Lauderdale until very late, all we wanted was to get into bed so we would be rested for the next day We have never explored Ft. Lauderdale....maybe someday.

Our cabin was on the Marina Deck (15) a Balcony which I really like as I love to sit outside and read and a lot of times like the peace and quiet of your own space. I am a walker so I take the stairs 99 % of the time. I personally don't like the elevators on ANY ship..they always seem to be going in the opposite direction that I want or need to go. I also don't have the patience to wait. I feel I can beat them, and usually I do. Our cabin M-627 was nice....I love the new flat screen TV and the huge selection of things to watch. A couple of minor cabin problems..the first morning I went to shower, the drain was plugged up so the plumber had to come fix it....a couple of times the toilet didn't want to flush...and our safe decided not to open with the combo that we chose, so that had to be fixed. After things were fixed, the cabin was nice. I do like the new square sinks in the bathroom. One thing I don't like is the fact that I couldn't plug my curling iron into the outlet in the bathroom.

With us having preferred boarding, the embarkation went very smoothly and fast. Our cabin steward Arlon had put our luggage in side our cabin which was so nice. Disembarkation was another story all together. We chose walk off as we had a pretty early flight and that became delay after delay. We finally got home 12 hours later than we originally were supposed to.

Balcony

Cabin BE

It was a nice cabin. I don't know if I would choose one that high up again. I loved the new pillows, the TV and the balcony. Besides having to have the shower fixed (to drain properly), the safe fixed (once we changed the combo we had no problems.) Once we figured out to leave your room key in the slot so the lights would work was ok.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

First time at this port. We did it as the ship docked a long ways from anything to see and we wanted to see what it was like. We probably wouldn't choose to go their again.

St. Thomas

This is my favorite port. Really enjoyed Havenside port. First time to this port. I did buy a Larimar bracelet in one store. When we went to another store, I told the owner that I had bought one. (she had beautiful ones in her display) She asked me if she could look at it,,,I said sure. The first words out of her mouth were "You got ripped off".(Quality was very inferior) She said for me to return it and get my money back. I was very surprised I got it back. I returned to her store and bought one from her which is superior quality. I thanked her over and over for being honest with me..So beware of the other stores and really shop around. I learned a good lesson .

St. Maarten

We just walked around and did a little shopping.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We flew in the day before. Our flight from Washington State gets there very late at night so all we want to do is get to the hotel and get some sleep.
