Cabin: Signature Superior Verandah Suite

I've been on many cruises, including a few on other lines (Carnival and Celebrity), and always come back to Holland America because of the consistency and atmosphere. This cruise on the Zuiderdam had a great itinerary, the ship had just recently been redone, our room was beautiful and the service was very good. We visited several of my favorite ports of call (although we didn't take any excursions because we'd been there before). HAL is generally for older people, and is not a "Party Cruise". The spa is wonderful. The food is very good for the most part, and you can choose between eating in the dining room or in the less formal Lida Restaurant. There is a specialty restaurant which I hear is very good, but we did not choose to spend the extra money for it. The service all over the ship was excellent and friendly. We had a verandah suite, and it was roomy as far as cabins go and well appointed. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided by Elemis is great, I didn't use my own shampoo and conditioner at all. Overall I think this is a great cruise/cruiseline, as long as you aren't looking for a party atmosphere and nonstop excitement.

Signature Superior Verandah Suite

Cabin SY

Recently redone, the cabin was very pretty and well appointed. Very comfy bed, high quality linens. The bathroom was a good size and had both shower and jacuzzi style tub. Large tv with streaming movie and tv programs, as well as ship info display. Everything was clean and comfortable.
