My husband and I took Legend on the Italy/Croatia 12-night cruise in June 2009.  We are experienced travelers, having cruised on seven cruise lines and over 15 cruises to locations throughout the world.  This cruise was exceptional from beginning to end and the scuttlebutt I heard around the ship indicated that most (if not all) passengers agreed.  I honestly don't know what anyone would have to complain about - there is no doubt that this cruise definitely made me want to cruise RCI again.  This is a long review, but broken into sections for ease of reading.  Comments on ports and excursions are at the end because I know they're boring to those only interested in the ship.  Finally, as this is a review of the ship and line, I've limited comments to things within the control of the ship/line.  Stuff like airlines, hotels, independent transfers, etc. are interesting but whether they go well or not isn't the responsibility of the cruise line.

EMBARKATION - No question the fastest and easiest we've ever had.  We arrived shortly after the recommended time of 3 p.m. and were on the ship within 5 minutes.  We'd filled out our paperwork ahead of time which helped.  Whether you were a premier passenger or not, lines were non-existent.

SHIP - This is VERY important.  Legend is an older ship (1995).  Thus, if you book her, do NOT expect all of the modern conveniences of the new behemoths, such as specialty restaurants, wave pools, ice rinks, "central park," and the like.  Not happening.  If that's what you're looking for, book another ship - seriously.  That said, it's a great size in that nothing was ever crowded.  The ship is very well maintained and clean inside and out.

Cabin Review

Tons of storage space.  Lots of room with a sectional sofa and modern TV.  HUGE deck.  Hallway very quiet.  There is noise of rolling carts on the deck above, especially late at night and early morning.  Unless you are mid-ships or further aft, you'll probably hear it.
