This was our second cruise, and we heard that RCI was a great line. Good? The cabins were fine (except for the dated and REAL small bathrooms, only with shampoo) and room attendant quite good. There was always activities going on for all ages, especially if you like trivia games. The entertainment (with the exception of a cheesy comedian) was excellent: Marcus was a 60's-70's singer and there as a production of Grease (also excellent).
24-hour small cookies/sandwiches and coffee available, pizza from 11a-3a, so that was good for hunger pains. The food is another story: breakfast in the buffet was fine (how can you mess up breakfast?!), lunch was ok with superb Indian cuisine, but the main dining room food and the specialty dining is a mess. Giovanni's was low level Italian with poor service. The main dining room also had sketchy wait service (except one night we had attentive waiters). The food was disappointing: too little choices, too salty and not always appealing. To receive a NY strip that is under 1/2" thick and well done is not the best presentation, nor is dried out fish that is over salted. The ship needs a baker as the desserts were grocery store quality. Almost every single person I asked about the food had the same exact comments- and these were experienced travelers. All said the food quality on this cruise did not meet their expectations (French onion soup with only a teaspoon of cheese on the top of the bread slice?).
Fine cabin except that the bathroom could be updated. Beds were comfortable due to the thick egg crate under the sheet.
Stopped by the Tropicana as recommended by Trip Advisor- highly recommend Steve!
Rented a jeep for $55 US from Rentadora Isis- check out the car first as we did not have 1 seat belt working. Old car not maintained---find another vendor. Good way to explore Cozumel.
